Introduction
Ledger Live Desktop is the official app to manage your Ledger hardware wallet. This guide will help you install, set up, and secure your Ledger device to manage crypto assets safely.
Step 1: Download Ledger Live
Visit the official Ledger website and download the Ledger Live application for your operating system (Windows, MacOS, or Linux).
- Go to Ledger Live Official Download
- Choose your operating system
- Click "Download"
Step 2: Install Ledger Live
After downloading, run the installer and follow the instructions. Ensure that the application is allowed to install on your system.
Windows: run the .exe file
MacOS: open the .dmg and drag the app to Applications
Linux: follow the .AppImage instructions
Step 3: Set Up Your Ledger Device
Connect your Ledger hardware wallet to your computer using the USB cable. Follow the on-screen instructions to:
- Create a new wallet or restore an existing one
- Set a secure PIN code
- Write down your recovery phrase securely
Step 4: Add Accounts
Ledger Live allows you to manage multiple crypto accounts.
- Click "Add Account"
- Select the cryptocurrency
- Follow the device prompts to verify
Step 5: Send & Receive Crypto
Once accounts are added, you can safely send and receive funds:
- For sending, select the account, enter the recipient address, and confirm on the device
- For receiving, select "Receive" and verify the address on the device
Security Tips
Keep your Ledger device and recovery phrase safe. Never share your PIN or recovery phrase. Always verify addresses on the device screen, not on your computer.
